Make The Future Singapore is the Asian instalment of a global festival of ideas that Shell is also taking to London and Detroit.

Making its debut on March 16 to 19, 2017, Make the Future Singapore will be held at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

It will feature the Shell Eco-marathon Asia, a long-running student competition to build the world’s most energy-efficient cars; as well as exhibitions, activities and forum discussions centred around Asia’s energy challenge. 

The four-day event is open to the public and entry is free upon registration.

Visitors will experience amazing bright energy ideas of the future, and will be inspired to think about how they can contribute to an energy-efficient, low-carbon future. Through virtual reality and hands-on experiential zones, visitors will be able to:

  • Explore what is happening now and see what the future of energy might look like, from renewable energy to natural gas and low-carbon technologies;
  • Learn about bright ideas from around Asia; and
  • Participate in interactive zones about the future of energy, mobility and innovation by Shell and other partners.

Shell Eco-marathon Asia

Shell Eco-marathon is a unique competition that challenges student teams around the world to create the ultimate energy-efficient vehicle. With three main events in Asia, Americas and Europe, the competition attracts thousands of young engineers and students aiming to go the farthest on the least amount of fuel.

In March 2017, Shell Eco-marathon takes place in Singapore for the first time as part of Make The Future Singapore! Follow more than 100 teams as they push the boundaries of energy efficiency.

Bumi Siliwangi Team 4 races for the Drivers’ World Championship win at Make the Future London 2016

Drivers' World Championship Asia

The Shell Eco-marathon Drivers’ World Championship brings together the world’s best UrbanConcept teams competing in an exciting race to see who the world’s fastest energy-efficient driver is.

At the end of Shell Eco-marathon Asia, the top four UrbanConcept teams in each of the three categories - Battery Electric, Hydrogen and Internal Combustion Engine - will take part in the Drivers’ World Championship (DWC) Asia. The top three teams will then fly to London in May to take part in the DWC Grand Final. There, they will race for the championship trophy against their counterparts in Europe and the United States.

In 2016, Bumi Siliwangi Team 4 from Indonesia did Asia proud by clinching the top title.

Bright Ideas Challenge

The Bright Ideas Challenge

We believe the answers to tomorrow’s energy challenges lie in young people’s ingenuity. Designed to spark young people’s curiosity in science and engineering, the Bright Ideas Challenge invites secondary school students, aged 13 – 16, to imagine how cities of the future might be powered. The finalists will appear at Make The Future Singapore and the winners will be decided by a panel of judges as well as the number of visitor votes.

Powering Progress Together (by invitation only)

Powering Progress Together is a global Shell forum that brings together a wide range of thought leaders across different sectors to discuss, debate and exchange ideas to tackle future energy challenges.

Shell #makethefuture Accelerator Singapore (by invitation only)

The Shell #makethefuture Accelerator event is aimed at supporting energy start-ups to help find more and cleaner energy solutions. Held on March 17th 2017 in Singapore, this unique event brings energy entrepreneurs together with government, business and clean energy leaders. By working collaboratively, the aim is to help bring bright energy ideas to life.

The sessions will be practical, interactive and participatory and will focus on identifying real and actionable ways to bring the technologies of aspiring energy entrepreneurs to life.
